Master Bedroom - Tweaked

So, I'm a tweaker.

Yep... a compulsive tweaker.

A VERY C-O-M-P-U-L-S-I-V-E tweaker.

But, it's all for the best... right?!

I would like to think so!

So, here is an updated tour of our master bedroom! I shared awhile ago about how I was toning down the punches of yellow throughout the room... just to make it more serene and comfortable. I think all these gray tones definitely do the trick! But, don't get me wrong... I still had to have some fun with yellow.

So, here it is... enjoy!

This is the place where I kept the punch of yellow. I really like how the painting complimented the credenza {which houses our electrical equipment for the TV, Blue-Ray, etc on the other side of the wall}. The painting also covers up an oddly placed electrical outlet which we have plugged into for previously said electrical equipment. I LOVE how this hides the hideous wires!

The lamps have a new twist to them. They aren't new... but the pieces are "repurposed".... or swapped. This is an easy way that I like to tweak! I simply change up my lamps by swapping the shades. Different shades on different bases provide a different feel! So, although the lampshades were revamped awhile ago... I just swapped out the bases with other ones that were in the room. I like the height of these much much better in this space!

I added a new accent item.... my hand-beaded elephant from my recent trip. LOVIN' IT!

The books are part of my collection that I have read, are reading, or will read. But, I also will stock up on the old Reader's Digest books when I am at a local thrift shop that sells them for $.50 a piece... sometimes I get them for $.25 each! These are the nice hard covers that have the really cool prints on them... GREAT for decorating!

Then here is the dresser that I also did a quick makeover to a while back. I revamped the lampshade here at the same time as the other ones. The framed fabric was also an awesome find from my trip!

Again, I really LOVE to surround myself with things that hold meaning. This fabric DEFINITELY accomplishes that goal!

This dresser was the antique dresser that I revamped a couple times. But, I really do like the dark gray hue. It's so soothing and compliments the Ghost Chair nicely.

It also compliments the antique framed fern lithographs, lamp and gold spray painted antlers!

I had tried {at the beginning of the set up of the room} to create a His and Her side... as a fun subtle contrast. I think it has really come together nicely.

It starts with the balance of the mirrors.

I had more space to fill on the Her side. So, the scale of the middle top mirror is slightly larger. I also wanted to criss-cross the masculine-feminine feel throughout the grouping of mirrors.

Let's start with the Her side.

First off, aren't our new nightstands AWESOME! They were so worth the wait! These puppies provide more storage with greater organization with outstanding craftsmanship! And an AMAZING compliment to the other wood tones, fabrics and colors in the room.

Anyway, I went with a more feminine and curvy mirror, but I combined it with a metal sunburst mirror. The metal provides a nice contrast with a masculine texture. And of course, I have my Little Miss Pearl bust on my side of the bead!

Do you recognize those lamp bases? They were part of that lamp base/shade swap I mentioned earlier. Again... this combination really works better in this space!

Now, onto the His side.

I really just tried to echo the same thing. Just, with a little more masculine feel. For example, the main mirror has simple straight lines. But, then I also kept the contrast with the other mirrors in the grouping to add some feminine feel.

I think it works. And of course, I had to add the Antique Marble David Bust which was an AWESOME find!

I really have enjoyed my little sitting area. So, I kept that pretty much the same. But, I spray painted the one large yellow ginger jar a gray color. This color matches the antique dresser on the other side of the room.

See, how the sides somewhat mirror each other, but with a more masculine/feminine bent? With that Ghost Chair, my hubby even has a little sitting area!

The rug has been one of the best purchases for this whole space! It has worked well with anything I decide to do. It really serves as an anchor. Not only with the color, but the print and texture. LOVIN' IT!

I don't really plan to change tweak much more in this space. I think it has worked out quite nicely.

Although, I would like to add some drapery. But, that's a project we are saving up for... and will come at a later time. But, I will want it to be something subtle. After all, this view.... is the perfect "fabric print"!

I hope you have enjoyed the tour!

Feel free to share your links of your bedrooms. I always think it's neat and inspirational to see what others have done with their spaces!
